About - History of LSD |
|
Lucid SFX Development at its inception was a real world solution to complacency, an artist based boutique working in the film industry without the chains of corporation enslaving the artists. The idea spawned from a once Freelance Graphic Artist turned Visual Effects Animator and a jet -setting Turkish Photographer. These two kitch driven wildflowers set out for the then destroyed city of New Orleans to start a business that their dreams inspired. On a crispy day in August the two artists sat in a New Orleans' local restaurant with a lawyer and drew up the paperwork for LSD, the acronym that would spark many conversations to come, and the company was born. The first few jobs were simple and did not require an overload of work, but business quickly picked up. The team was in need of growth, and fast. So, an independent freelancer from Georgia was hired to come in and take on some of the workload. The new recruit proved to be a driving force in the workplace, so much so that he was later made partner. Again, the workload got more intense, and with it the level of pay was increased. Lucid SFX Development was headed for a bigger market. This proved time to expand and invest. After nine months of working, the company heads, Joseph and Nesrin, sat down with Brandon and talked about the state of affairs with LSD. At this crucial point, LSD made Brandon a full partner, and decided on purchasing the most intuitive and resourcefully sound software on the market, Side FX Software's Houdini. These decisions would effect the entire future of the company.Having made these decisions, two more artists were brought on board the LSD Team and an outsourced prosthetics artist joined as well. This jump brought in the first feature film that the crew would work on! LSD had proven their worth in salt easily and was ready for the next big thing, in fact, LSD created its next big thing, FEAR Festival. FEAR has become an annual event attended by a mix of filmmakers and film artists ranging from the lowest of low budget shorts to the big budget blockbuster companies. Through the festival and continuous work in the industry, LSD has always striven to offer creative and advanced visual effects and animation at reasonable rates, which has steadily grown their client base. Now, even during the current recession, the unique and eye-catching works of LSD can be seen on local channels throughout Louisiana on commercials, and internationally in feature and short films. LSD partners can be seen at board meetings with GNO INC, and working with officials from the Louisiana's Governor's Office and the New Orleans' Office of Film and Video. We rely on our in house creative talent to offer the most exhilarating imagery available, while we use our unique personalities to conduct our business in a professional, yet personal atmosphere, assuring our clients' overall satisfaction! |
